Vaccination & Parasite Prevention Policy:

All pets must have written proof of required immunizations & be parasite-free prior to boarding. All vaccinations must be given at least two weeks prior to their drop-off date in order to reach their full efficacy.

DOGS:
Distemper/Parvo Combination Vaccine & Rabies within at least the last 12 months.Puppies under 12 months old must be fully vaccinated with 4 rounds of DAPP and provide proof of all rounds.
Bordetella: within the last 6-12 months per the vaccination due date (varies)
Fecal: Negative fecal within the last year (effective requirement 7/1/23)

CATS:
Feline Distemper Combination Vaccine, Leukemia, & Rabies within at least the last 12 monthsKittens under 12 months old must be fully vaccinated with 3 rounds of FVRCP and FELV and provide proof of all rounds.

Vaccines:In order to ensure vaccine efficacy, patients are required to have been vaccinated at least 2 weeks prior to their drop-off date. This is for the safety of all patients in the facility, including the hospitalized patients in our building. Remember, we are also a hospital and we often have sick patients. We want your pets to be safe, as well as our other patients and our staff!

Fleas, Ticks, & Intestinal Parasites: Contagious parasites (including internal parasites, which can be passed to humans) are very important for us to prevent against for the safety of all of the pets in our care. Dogs must have negative fecal tests within 6 months of boarding. If you are a current patient with us, we are happy to provide a fecal test while they are with us. During the time period of waiting for results, we will not allow group play. Additionally, there will be a cost for the test and a cost to treat any positive results. If your pets are found to have any fleas or ticks, they will be treated while they are in the facility, at the owner’s expense.

Personal Items:

We recommend leaving only your pet’s food & medications. To maintain our high standard for safety & sanitation, we will provide all bowls & bedding. We cannot be held responsible for any lost, damaged, or destroyed items that are left with your pet. We feed Royal Canin low-fat diet for a fee of $1.50 per cup if you did not bring food or if your pet runs out of food while here. Please have your pet’s food in a sealed container or zip-lock bag. If your pets need to be in separate kennels when feeding you will be ineligible to get the sharing discount.

Gastrointestinal Upset:

Being away from home, experiencing new sights, smells, & sounds, eating different food, or even just being excited can affect your pet’s gastrointestinal homeostasis. Diarrhea & weight loss can be common effects of boarding. Stool should return to normal after a few days of your pet being back at home & experiencing their normal routine. This is why we strongly recommend bringing food from home.

Complimentary Bath:

Pets who board with us for 5 days or more, will receive a complimentary basic bath the evening before they are scheduled to leave. If your pet leaves on Monday the bath is given on Saturday. Additional Spa & Salon services such as nail trims or grooming are available for an additional charge, but must be arranged prior to boarding with our Grooming Department.

Daycare:

Supervised doggie group play with other dogs of similar size is free while boarding. There are inherent risks associated with group play & it is play at your own risk. It is designed for dogs that are not too aggressive or too submissive who are socially compatible with other dogs to interact together off leash which involves jumping, wrestling, & playing using teeth & toenails & they can get wet &/or dirty. If you would like your dog to participate in group play, you agree to hold the Animal Clinic of Grand Prairie & all personnel harmless. Your signature acknowledges that you are aware of the risks involved with group play including serious or potentially fatal injuries, disease, &/or escape. You accept responsibility for your dog’s behavior & accept all financial responsibility for your dog(s) and any emergency medical treatment they may require, which is up to the discretion of our trained medical staff and the veterinarians on site. Intact pets are not eligible for group play due to the increased risk for behavioral incidents.

Behavioral Policy:

At ACGP, we use low-stress handling techniques and FAS policies to alleviate fear and anxiety for all patients and boarders in our care. However, the sights, sounds, and smells of a facility can cause heightened stress for some patients and this can be unavoidable at times. For the physical safety of all patients in our care and the safety of our staff, patients with severe behavioral issues will be evaluated by our trained medical staff. On a case-by-case basis, they may be required to use oral sedation, or injectable sedation, or be asked to stay in a more conducive environment for their anxiety. Patients with severe behavioral issues, dog aggression, or cage aggression may be required to use sedation or asked to stay elsewhere. We want all our boarders to be safe and enjoy their stay. We also value the safety of all patients in our care, as well as our staff. We ask that all family members of patients be cognizant of these considerations. Medications, examinations, and additional handling costs will be at the owner/agent’s expense. By signing this agreement, this owner/agent is aware of and consents to the above-outlined policy.

Intact Patient Policy:

We are one of the few facilities that offer boarding and daycare for intact patients due to the increase in risk during their care. While we offer boarding care for intact patients, we do so with several caveats to their care.

1) They may not share space with other pets (even in the same family). 2) They may not participate in group play. 3) Due to the increase in time, labor, and special training this requires for our staff, there is a special handling fee per pet of $25.

By signing this agreement, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to these policies, and all the above policies, particularly the behavioral policy and the medical emergency needs policy.

All prices are by weight per day including day of check-in, day of check out, and each day in between. (WE ARE A FLAT RATE FACILITY) Check-in & Check-out time is any time during lobby hours Monday-Friday 8 am-6 pm closed from 12-1 & Saturday 8 am-1 pm. We ask that you please check in by 5 pm M-F or by 12 pm Sat if your pet needs any meals, medications, vaccinations, &/or if it is their first time staying with us. Payment for the services provided is due in full at the time your pet is released from the Animal Clinic of Grand Prairie with NO EXCEPTIONS & you may be asked to pay a deposit for longer stays. The lobby is closed from 12 pm-1 pm M-F. If your pet(s) stay longer than your original scheduled pick-up date, your quoted price will be higher due to the extended stay.

Medical Illness Policy (NON-EMERGENT):

The advantage of boarding your pet(s) at a veterinary hospital is that veterinary attention is readily available should the need arise. In case of emergency, we will call you then the emergency contact listed regarding your pet’s condition, treatment options, & estimated additional costs. If no one can be reached, please indicate your wishes below by initialing. Please only check one.*

___Please perform whatever services the veterinarian deems necessary for the best care of my pet until someone can be reached. This includes only non-elective treatments & necessary diagnostics.

___Do not administer any medical treatment until specific authorization is given. – (Exception is if a Vet deems it necessary for the life of the pet.)

Emergency Care Policy:

Occasionally, due to the nature of a day-care or boarding facility stay, emergency situations arise. One of the benefits of staying at a hospital-adjacent facility is that the facility is monitored by a veterinarian and has on-site medical care. Should a life-threatening or traumatic emergency arise, ACGP will treat at the discretion of the on-site DVM. Any trauma care performed in order to triage or treat the patient in such an event is done without prior approval, due to the necessity of performing such care without the benefit of time or a waiting period.

By initially this agreement, the owner/agent of the pet agrees to such care in the event of an emergency, agrees to the stipulations of the veterinarian, and understands that it is done without prior authorization, and at the expense of the owner/agent.*
